Fried Apple Egg Rolls – Finger Licking Good!

FRIED APPLE EGG ROLLS

Yup, you’re reading that right!  Fried Apple Egg Rolls!  Ever since Adrian over at Life with Garnish did a recipe on Egg Rolls and I realized I could make egg rolls, I’ve been on a tear.  I have made Ground Chicken Egg Rolls, Ranch Chicken Egg Rolls & Bacon Cheeseburger Egg Rolls.  I don’t know if it’s the fact that I’m just so darn tootin happy I can make egg rolls now or what, but my brain has been going crazy thinking of all the different egg rolls I can make. The day I was making the Bacon Cheeseburger Egg Rolls, I wonder “Would dessert like egg rolls be wrong?”  Heck no is the answer to that.  Now my brain is in overdrive thinking of the next one.

Bad news first.  It doesn’t have only 12 carbs…I don’t know how many carbs are in it, kinda skeered to find out, but it’s more than 12.  I’ve bragged on the other egg rolls that there is only 12 carbs in each egg roll wrapper.  That’s still true here. But, with this one, I’ve added fried apples and then rolled that egg roll in cinnamon sugar. So the carb count might just be out the door. Oh yeah!

Now the good news….it turned out better than I had hoped. Almost like apple pie people.  Now, don’t not try these because it sounds weird. Make sure you’re ready to lick your fingers while your eating these.

Note – You can substitute the cinnamon chips for ground cinnamon and/or nutmeg.

Will you try these??

Servings: Egg Rolls
Instructions
  1. Peel and cut up your apples. You might want to cut them up smaller than I did. When I was cooking them, I realized they were a little too big to roll up in the egg roll wrapper.

  2. Melt the butter in a pan. Add apples, brown sugar & cinnamon chips.
    #friedapple #eggroll #dessert #appetizer
  3. Saute for 15-20 minutes or until "sauce" is gone and apples are soft.
  4. Allow to cool a bit. While apples are cooling mix cinnamon and white sugar on a plate. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet to medium high heat. See below for rolling instructions if needed.
  5. Roll 2 spoonfuls of fried apples to each egg roll wrapper. Cool in oil about 3 minutes each side.
  6. Using tongs, remove egg roll when done and roll in the cinnnamon sugar mixture. Set on another plate. Let cool a few minutes before tearing into these! 😉 Enjoy!

  9. Oh my! Thankfully, I don’t count carbs! 🙂
This looks awesome! I’ve got a tree totally loaded with pears, and I wonder how they might taste in place of the apples. There are so many ways to sub. pears for apples, I might give it a try. Then, I can try it again with apples. Then again with pears AND apples… 🙂
    Pinning these! Thanks for sharing.
